Don’t let these planning confessions be your reality

Partnering closely with the planning and building sector, the Objective Trapeze team often hear of the obstacles faced when working to deliver fast and accurate plan assessments. 

Several ‘confessions’ received following our session at the Planning Portal Virtual Conference revealed a reality common to Planning and Building teams across the globe – a backlog of applications, combined with sub-standard assessment tools.

From the uncertainty of whether all differences have been spotted between revisions, to holding objects against the screen for measuring – many don’t realise that they are not alone when it comes to the recurring issues and workarounds 'confessed' to us over the years.

“I used to hold paper plans up to the window to check for differences. Now, with PDF plans, I find it difficult to do the same,” one planner confessed.

“I’ve often placed folded post-it notes on the monitor to check for the 45-degree rule. But that’s no good if I need to show my assessment to someone else, especially when working from home,” another admitted.
